Sanitation workers are lazy? Is that really the comment I just read below? Laziness doesn't cause broken bones, ripped ligaments, severe back issues, severe neck issues, bad knees, tetanus shots, barely able to move when you're done with the day. Heat exhaustion, muscle and joint pain, tiredness, cramped legs and arms, body aches, shooting pains in your feet, I mean, I can literally go on and on. Laziness is sitting on your computer, hiding behind a fake name, and writing idiotic statements. You clearly have no clue what it is like to be in the shoes of a sanitation worker. And getting home at 1, yeah, but our day starts at 6am. Do the math - then go out and pick up thousands of lbs of garbage, constant lifting and dumping, being covered in ants, and all other crap that comes with handling garbage. Then go sit in a truck where temperatures reach over 100 degrees inside with no air conditioning. Inhale toxic waste for hours at a time. Yeah, we chose this job, but with the promise of fair and equal treatment, we've gotten none! Equal wages as those who also serve in the TOH, that never happened. Our safety and health being a priority, someone missed the boat on that one. So before you ramble on about things you know nothing about, why don't you come and do our job, for one day. Guaranteed you wouldn't last one hour.

These workers need to learn to do their job! They are inconsiderate and lazy. Ask Oside residents on how to fix this and they say they have to tip them so they do the job we are already paying them to do. Spend the money to train them to respect others and themselves. Do not spend more money so they can act like bigger prima donnas. They chose the job but refuse to do it. You're home at 1, get a second job!!

I happen to live next door to one of our sanitation workers and he is one of the most gracious, kind, hard working people I know. I've seen him come home from work beet red, tired, drained and in pain. I've seen him leave at 6 in the morning and arrive back home at 1pm. Some days, drenched in sweat. It's a job he chose, yes, but with promises of a better future, and better wages the more time he put in. As in any job, the more you work, and the harder you work, you deserve the recognition and the appreciation for it. He's stressed, we've chatted numerous times. The question of being able to afford to continue to live here and raise his family has been a constant weight on his shoulders. Broken promises wears on a person. It's time the word is kept, and these men are paid accordingly. You're breaking their will and hurting their livelihood.

This back garage is completly unnecessary. Now that the workers are supposed to get raises, they decide it's time to build a new one? Give it a break and pay the workers that actually do the work and clean up Oceanside!

I'm an Oceanside resident and I voted for one reason only, to support the workers. I also wanted the corruption out, because I knew that was holding back the fair treatment that these guys deserved. If I knew the commissioners would back out on their word, I would've thought twice about my decision. Give these guys what they deserve. Let them live and take care of their families.
