My husband fled his country to the United States due to political persecution to seek asylum when he was only a minor. His family retained a lawyer, who did not inform him of a court date. He missed his court date and was ordered removed in absentia, according to Immigration law. This lawyer has since been disbarred for ineffective representation of counsel in immigration proceedings.

We got married in Dec. 2010 and I filed a petition for him as my husband. He also filed to adjust his status to become a permanent resident. During our interview, he was held without bond because of the final order of removal against him. He is currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

Please join me to ask ICE to help review and re-open his case to secure his release and ultimately adjust his status to become a permanent resident.

I am working with legal advocates right now to compile all the evidence regarding the original attorney error. Email your local representative today to demand they look into this case of ineffective counsel. We must keep pressure on these officials until we get the review we deserve.

The momentum behind this plea is growing and it shows that people understand how unfair this situation is. Reach out to three friends right now and send them the link to this petition so we can keep the pressure on ICE.

This is completely unfair. He deserves a fair day in court especially since his lawyer was incompetent. Let him go home to his wife.

He has a family here and a wife who loves him. Stop separating people from their loved ones over a paperwork mistake that wasn't even his fault.

The lawyer was disbarred for a reason! Why is he still being punished for someone elses mistake? Just re-open the case.
