This child should be with her siblings. Give her a chance to grow up them, play with them, eat meals with them, LIVE with them. A relationship limited to Skype and yearly visits would reduce the relationship to that of distant cousins at best. I don't remember anything before 4yrs old, likely neither will she. The strong attachment this child has with her Foster parents will transfer to her Adoptive parents when she moves to her siblings' home. It happens all the time in adoption. The Foster parents have done their job...now it's time to let her go.

Removing a child from her primary attachments is traumatizing, particularly since her birth parents are in support of the current foster family, and since her current foster family is open to cultivating her blood-sibling relationship. Forceful removal would be enacting structural violence on a vulnerable toddler.

Please go with what is the best solution
for this child. Is he thriving and happy?
Let him be at his present home.
Respectfully, H. Mach

The only people with a legitimate claim to this little one are family...if her birth parents can't care for SS then SS's siblings are family too! Foster parents that went into fostering under false pretences are neither family nor good role models. Wake up people!!! Poor choices have driven these siblings apart! Unite them! #cradletograve #familyfirst

I believe this SS child should stay with the Foster Parent to be adopted...Metis is Metis not a non-native family.

I think its time decision making was based on whats best for children, not what perception is. Had a recent encounter with the "Caretakers" and its very hard to even get anything on paper, let along a decision that is based on facts and the best in LT Care. Good luck!!

It is a travesty that anyone would work to deny this little girl the chance to grow up with her sisters.

What is best for the child?
To remove her from the family that has raised her from birth in a loving Métis home that embraces her heritage and culture...To send her across the country to form a relationship with siblings she has never met in a foster home where the parents are not Metis...To deny her a relationship with her birth parents who have written letters of support for their daughter's foster parents...
To allow the decision of what is "best for the child" to be made by a paternalistic government agency...
There is truly something wrong with this biased viewpoint...
We need to stand up for this little girl and her foster parents and demand that she remain in their home to thrive.

As a grandmother with 2 Metis grandchildren & 2 daughters with Metis status, I definitely disagree with the Ministry and many of their decision which they claim are in the best interest of the child!! I have personally dealt with many of their issues & am quite aware of what a battle it is to dispute their decisions!! I definitely agree that a child should most often be placed with their family members if possible, but certainly recognize that there are frequently issues that the family may need support in order to best enable the child to be safely placed!!

Just another way for the system to set another child to fail, MCFD is always petitioning for good foster homes, for children in care, this whole situation dose not make sense, this child is in a FAMILY that wants her, and MCFD just decides you can and who cannot raise a child. I really think this organization needs a wake up call, they are setting this child up to fail, she wil be another victim of the system, thanks to a organization that really dose not care.

Given that the Metis people of BC feel very strongly about this child staying with the present foster family, the BC MCFD must please stop their actions to move this child!!

If you remove this little girl from her loving family, you will cause emotional trauma that will last a lifetime. Please let her stay and be emotionally safe.
