The minestry really needs to rethinks its policies and bases their decisions on a case by case basis - they need to give their head a shake when it comes to aboriginal affairs

I think that MCFD is WAY out of line in sending this child away from the only home she has known. I wonder who is causing the damage to this little girl. It sure isn't her foster parents.

It is simply the best interests of the toddler to remain with the people, who have known her from birth. You are traumatizing her by removing her from her current situation !

As a pediatrician, I am all too familiar wih the acute trauma of loss and separation, and the long-term behavioural and mental health consequences of disrupted attachment. Removing this little girl from her parents, as she has lived with them since she was 3 days old, will cause severe emotional trauma. I strongly urge you to reconsider this move, for the sake of SS!

This is heartbreaking. Let the child stay with the family she's been with since birth.

I have had the pleasure of being friends with the son of the parents involved in this little girls life. I can't even begin to explain how great this home and the entire family is. After years of this adoption being up in the air it would be in the child's best intrest to stay. I have always been welcome in their home and even as a tenant in the soon to be grandparents (again) basement suite. It would be a shame to see her miss out on this amazing, safe, comfortable and overwhelmingly supporting family to grow up with.

She should be allowed to stay with those who she has grown to love and vice versa. Should not be taken out of such a good and stable environment.... Heartless and cruel with the potential of great harm!! Let this family stay a family!!

Had this child been Caucasian, things would of had a different outcome, just being honest.

Does anyone care that these foster parents have delayed the movement of this little girl to her permanent home by more than six months? If they hadn't have sued the Ministry (and lost) and then sued them again then SS would have been able to have been moved last summer, two months before SS turned two. Were they acting in the best interest of SS or was this completely self serving?

Your comment lacks sensitivity towards and knowledge of both emotional and biological attachment. There is not a good reason in this particular case to jeopardize the child's emotional development. Her current attachments include her biological parents and her loving foster family. Given the circumstances, a relationship with siblings should not trump these attachments (and the foster parents are prepared to facilitate the sibling relationship). You suggest that as an adult the child will not remember a separation this early from her current family, but scientific literature tells us her psychological and neurobiological self will carry the trauma forever. Also, taking her from her loving family would be further detrimental in that it would remove her from her Métis culture and community.
