We all know the real statistics. Per capita Australia offers nowhere near enough support to both asylum seekers and so-called 'economic refugees'. We spend more time and money actually helping create the situations around the world that cause their fleeing to our shores, and stopping them getting here. Clever country?... or just plain stupid and cruel country?

We really need to address the whole process for assylum seekers. The behaviour of our government in relation to assylum seekers is UNAUSTRALIAN - we should be offering these people an opportunity to prove themselves and give them dignity. This person is studying, married, in love, planning a future. Not rorting the system.

We are better than this.. as an Australian this is not done in my name. Its inhumane, callous and has the similar distaste to this act as the Nazi's did in Germany ,shameful, shameful , shameful. this government is Amoral.

I hope they get to be together. Putting this woman in detention makes a horrific statement about our humanity and character as a nation. I wish there were more routes for us to challenge this decision. Good luck and keep your heads up.

I'm ashamed of the barbaric behavior of our Government. This poor girl has the support of her community, is obviously much loved, is studying and working hard to make a home. She should NOT be treated like a criminal. It makes me so ashamed. We're the brutes here - we're the terrorists. NOT IN MY NAME!

Because we're a compassionate nation who shouldn't be separating married couples or returning people to countries where they will face torture or death.

This is shameful that we are detaining this woman. She and her husband will be valuable contributors to Australia. We Australian citizens want them to be a part of our community. Please release her.
