As someone who is going through the college process as well, I can tell you that I definitely have not taken this measure, even to appeal a decision. I think the fact that Shila created this petition in the first place is a testament to her ability to think outside the box and work hard in order to achieve her goals. I truly hope Chapman University realizes that she'd be an incredible addition to their student body because of her energetic personality and inherent nature to always give back to the community. Chapman, do yourself a favor and take her off the waitlist; you won't regret it.

Any normal college applicant would accept a waitlisted college decision for what it is, pray that they are chosen, and painfully endure the tedious game of waiting. Evidently, Shila is not a normal college applicant. I have never heard of someone so committed to a university that they would put in such a large amount of effort to show you, the admissions board of Chapman University, that she isn’t just another student on the boarder of an acceptance and a denial. She makes herself stand out when compared to her fellow applicants; she does something that truly shows ambition and a sincere desire to be a part of your university. Shila is an outstanding student and an even more remarkable person. She is passionate, dedicated, and as conscientious as a student can be. Knowing her personally, I have seen her overcome some of the greatest obstacles someone could face, and being that she is only in high school, shows extraordinary strength and will. She is, by far, the most deserving candidate to be moved from your waitlist to your acceptance.

Shila is one of my closest friends that I have known for many years, and I can easily say she is the most dedicated person I know. She puts her all into every project she decides to take on, especially when giving back to the community through volunteering. You always know that you can count on her to exceed the requirements when accomplishing tasks. She's extremely hard working and I truly believe that she'll thrive at Chapman with the motivation that she already has now. I hope that she will be able to bring her skills and commitment to her dream school.
