Help Make Recreation a Priority in Jackson Demonstration State Forest

Please don’t destroy the trails that so many use for recreation. Please work with Land Managers and local stakeholders on pissible compromises. Thank you.

Please make sure Jackson demo forest stay accessible for recreation such as biking and hiking

Please don't ruin the trails in Mendocino. I travel from great distances to ride them. When I do, I pump money into the local economy. We also fish there.

This area is a treasure to preserve. We often travel to Mendo to ride the trails. We support the local economy when we do. Please reconsider.

PLEASE consider making this a natural and recreation area for the benefit of the MAJORITY of the users and for the LOCAL ECONOMY. I feel to log this area for a few short lived dollars is insignificant when compared to the overall use an economy of this area. Thank you.

Jackson Demo Forrest is truly a treasure for the North Coast area and all of California. I have visited many times as a tourist a plan to visit many more if the current trail system is kept in tact.

It would be a crime to log Jackson State Forest !

Recreation based economies are stronger than extraction economies. Please don't destroy the incredible recreation this forest offers.

I value open, green space.

I use the Jackson State wild lands. This is what attracts me to Mendocino Co a couple a times a year.

I CAN’T BREATHE, Stop killing trees.

The Mendocino area trails are quickly becoming a destination for many trail users from the local area and outside the area. I now live outside the area and have visited 3 or 4 times a year, spending 15 days riding the local trails. I'm also spending money in the local community while visiting. Please don't make the mistake of underestimating the value of tourists like me and my family to the Mendo area. While I support sustainable logging, please give the trail users a voice. Leave the trail system and the beauty of the forest in place. Thank You.

Having grown up in Appalachia Coal Country I can straight up tell you that your shortsightedness will be financially rewarded up front, ridiculed in the middle and abandoned on the back end of this debacle. Stay the course of a steady economy that the the Jackson State Forest provides your local community. Once it's gone it's gone never to be the same. #takeastand

These trails are an asset to the area and bring business and economic benefit to the local community

Less destructive activities such as cycling, hiking and foraging for mushrooms should be encouraged over logging.

As an out of area California resident, my family and friends visit the JDSF for recreational purposes many times a year. Just from the dozens of out of town visitors that I am associated with, we easily bring well over $100,000 into the local economy each year. The trails that are threatened and impacted by these timber harvest plans have become well known throughout Northern California and beyond, attracting more visitors each year and providing a major economic benefit to the local economy. For most of us drawn to the area by these spectacular trails, we would not be visiting without them. Some of us love these trails so much that we sometimes visit the area for the sole purpose of participating in the monthly trail work sessions, organized by the Mendocino Coast Cyclists, including the upcoming trash clean up day in the Scales area. While I also support well planned and managed timber harvesting, I believe trail resources in the JDSF need to be given more consideration in developing these plans. As part of this consideration, I would like to see less logging than planned in the areas with recreational trails, recognizing the equal or greater value of this resource to our citizens, State, and local economy, compared to the income generated by logging these areas. Moving more logging plans to the vast areas within the forest that don’t contain these trails would provide a win for all of us, as well as future generations.

I bike on the trail system in the Jackson Forest and consider this resource a major factor in my enjoyment of living in Mendocino. Biking and hiking these trails provides a tremendous benefit to the health and future wealth of Mendocino County. It makes economic sense to forgo some logging revenue to preserve recreational access to the trail system.
