Help Make Recreation a Priority in Jackson Demonstration State Forest

We have been using those trails for the last 18 years we lived here, biking, hiking, enjoying nature, it is inconceivable not to be able to do that anymore, those parks should be made into nature preserves. Beside the impact on tourism, which would be devastating. Leave those woods alone, especially in those new times we live in.

Stop logging our public trails!

The Jackson Demonstration State Forest (JDSF) is the largest state forest in California at 48,652 acres! It is NOT funded by the state, unfortunately. We need to get our legislature to recognize state forests with the use of Carbon credits. When done so, trees will have as much value as carbon credits without them being cut to support the JDSF and the other state forest in California.

It is critical that we not lose sight of the long term. The sign of maturity and responsibility is the ability to delay immediate gratification for the larger picture. Preservation and conservation create long term options.

Please protect the irreplaceable beauty of our local forests. Keep them open, accessible, and pristine for recreation: it's essential and right.

These trails need to be preserved as they are truly world class. They're a critical asset to the community.

As the author of "Mountain Biking the Mendocino Coast and Beyond", I am greatly disheartened to see the enormity of the number of THPs that will affect up to 80% of all the trails I have mapped. This process took me more years than it will take to harvest what is in the book. The extensive research I have done on the importance of trail systems and how it relates to the economics of any community is staggering. To the JDSF- please reconsider Recreation as a Mandate where we have a voice in the control of what is harvested in the future! Thank you!

National Forrest belongs to the public and not to the State !

The MAIN reason I moved to Fort Bragg was because of the miles of mountain biking and hiking trails in the Jackson State Forest. I've been in disbelief after seeing all the timber harvest markers and "blue death" spray paint in the heart of the trail areas and have been seriously considering moving out of the State. PLEASE RECONSIDER CalFire !

There are ways to log without being invasive.

JDSF is the largest State Forest in California. Please leave selected high recreation used sectors unharvested to be seen and enjoyed by the locals who live here and the tourist who come to be awed by its beauty. JDSF has many square miles to of forest to log that is less visited

Save our precious trails from shutting down, due to logging.

We need our trees, trails, and wildlife that depends on the forest.

My family has been enjoying the Jackson State Forest area for over 40 years. We enjoy camping horseback riding, hiking in this special area and hope it can remain a recreation area for future families to enjoy.

The natural beauty of this land draws people here and keeps our tourism industry thriving. Tourism is the backbone of our economy here on the coast. Public lands should be used to support our local community and our tourist economy.

If this logging happens, the East Caspar Community will be ruined. The quiet will be gone. The wildlife threatened. The human residents devastated. Please, please, PLEASE listen to the public and do not ruin our community.

There are too few places in this shrinking world where we can ride and hike and take in the beauty of nature.

This is simply an insane idea to log and close off our beautiful Jackson State forest. Establish a mandate to protect the forest now!!
