Help Make Michigan an Esports Pioneer!

The Michigan Creativity Group and the High School Esports League are proud to launch the “Make Michigan an Esports Pioneer” campaign. Given the increasing popularity of Esports (competitive video gaming) at the university level, there is a significant need for representation in K12 schools. Recently, Connecticut became the first state to officially sponsor Esports, helping to provide a STEM related activity along the lines of robotics to capture student interest. Following Connecticut’s lead, Michigan should grant recognition to Esports to enable students to represent their respective schools in an exciting new form of competition. There has been some interest on behalf of parties affiliated with the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) to make Esports a sponsored activity. What is needed is additional support by stakeholders throughout the state to encourage the Executive Committee of the MHSAA to turn rhetoric into reality.
