It's a positive proposal: construction of a 9 car set down bay in Earl St outside the school will help to reduce the number of cars banked back past the roundabout at school pick up time which often causes the Princes & Earl St roundabout to become blocked preventing all other traffic from getting through.

I support the 9 bay drop / pick up zone. Not only is the safety of the children an issue but there is a traffic congestion problem that occurs every afternoon at pick up time which blocks the roundabout on the corner of Princes and Earl roads. At least a 9 bay zone is needed to solve this traffic congestion.

The original drop off pick up zone is urgently needed for the safety of school children.

Our children's safety is paramount and Earl Street traffic flow and the safe drop off of our children definitely needs improvement. However, surely a solution can be achieved that doesn't require tree removal. I don't feel that's the real issue here. What further consideration has been given to all the parked cars? These seem to be what's stopping traffic flow at peak times and also what's creating difficulties for DOZO. These appear to be commuters parking for the bus and not residents or school parking. Perhaps limiting car parking to only one side of the road will provide more room for the free passage of cars AND additional DOZO spaces. I don't believe the two are mutually exclusive as both issues need to be addressed together

Surely the removal of a tree is minor compared to the safety of the children at BPPS? At least ident and the school agree on finding a solution. Hopefully that can occur with the safety of the children a the centre of the decision making.

Drop off car lane is a very good idea

The children's safety is most important. I'm sure there are places to plant other trees near the school to replace the beautiful tree that will be lost.

It's a beautiful tree but the issues with DOZO outweigh it.

It is unfortunate but there is no doubt that retaining the tree creates increased traffic hazards for the children, teachers and the rest of the community who use Earl street. The knock-on effect also creates traffic hazards back onto Prince Street. The tree itself, while lovely, is also damaging the footpath and creating falls hazards.

this is a simple solution to ease congestion, increase safety on the road and footpaths.
