Question: What is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? Answer: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the disability related law with which many Americans are most familiar. I think everyone no matter what they have or what gender they are, are able to do what they want. It shouldnt matter if they get judged or not they are a team and they will protect each other like my cheer squad does for me.

The people that are refusing this child a basic right should be ashamed of themselves. All they have to do is give a tape to this girl a few days early. The refusal isn't about being fair. It's about the coaches not wanting to do extra work, so instead you allow a beautiful soul to feel worthless. What happened to a better future for our children? Is this how we want future generations to act? I can tell you first hand that it's DEVASTATING for these kids to be told that they are not good enough! It's bad enough that the world keeps reminding them they are different and not good enough, but when people that are supposed to build them up do it it's disgusting!

I can't believe a school would do this and I will do whatever to make things right.

I support this petition 100% Madison should receive accommodations for school tryouts.

I am on a high school cheer team and we have had girls with the same circumstances in our spirit program.

I have a sister with down syndrome and she can do what her heart believes she can. Let Maddie cheer that is judgemental she may look different from the outside but she is still a human and a kid that has a passion for cheer dont take that away from her just because she is a little bit more mentally challenged who cares let her cheer please

We have a girl with down syndrome on our varsity high school cheer squad and she's absolutely amazing and we treat her just like we treat the rest of the team! She is part of our family and i think madison deserves to be part of her school high school cheer family!

I want her to cheer so bad! Everyone should be able to cheer for their school!

Teaching children and educators and coaches about inclusion as well as learning how are differences make a strong sets the foundations for this generation to be a better one. It is terrible that it should have to even come to this. If I were the mother of this child I would photograph the coach and get her name and share that all over the internet as well as the administrators of the school who refused to accommodate special needs. So I see the school has a choice they can either work towards a beautiful and inspirational goal or they can be publicly shamed and ridiculed and protested period get it together. This mother is trying to do right by her child and you should try to do right by all the children at the school of every ability
