Help Maddie get the accommodations she deserves to Tryout for Middle school cheer

So sorry to hear Coyle MS is not working with this family. I have a special needs child at Hudson MS in Garland and have had a completely opposite experience. I hope the teacher and administration will see the benefits for all of the students when they include Madison.

Everyone deserves a fair shot, no one would be more spirited and love it more than her!

Prayers out to once solid workout to try to make the team. My suggestion is 'ASK' current and former team members about what to work on for the tryout routine, all you can do is simply try your best. If you don't happen to make it, that is okay, life goes on. Don't look for 'Special' treatment trust your abilities, you don't want to be part of some "TEAM" if you only made it because of your 'Special' Needs right? One thing to always remember hon is when one door doesn't open for you there is ALWAYS another to open or maybe kick it in and let people know "I AM HERE!!" Never be afraid to try something New, if it's not Cheer, Wouldn't you like to see what else you can do, maybe another team/sport you can be part of? Just never give up on ANYTHING. I learned once when I made a basketball team, I knew I wasnt the best one there, heck I knew the odds were stacked against me, but I still tried as hard as I could, ran as fast as I could jumped as high as I could and congratulated everyone for a great pass or excellent shot and in the end, I made the team... there I was, beat out everyone from my middle school roster, I MADE IT!!! I made it because of my "Amazing energy, enthusiasm and un-measurable heart" according to my 'Coach'... I didn't get to play much BUT I continued to work hard and always tried my best. I wish and hope the same for you. TRY YOUR HARDEST, DO YOUR BEST, and SMILE like you have never smiled before. And when you walk off the Mat or Gym floor, keep your head held high, say thank you for the opportunity and please know YOU ABSOLUTELY Did your best. God Bless

Give this student the same opportunity as any other student. She deserves a chance. To try. Do not look at her as a student with Down's Syndrome.

Give her what she needs to succeed in the areas she is passionate about! Everyone deserves a chance.

I'm a teacher of seven years and a cheerleading coach of 12 years. I'm sad that you even have to create this petition. This school should absolutely give your daughter accommodations for her Tryouts. I hope and pray they do the right thing. Best wishes.

It had been proven that children who are active and participate in shorts do better academically. What ever happen to the ADA? Call them, they maybe able to help. Good luck. Also, or highschool/ middle school made accomadations for a young lady in a wheel chair so she could cheer

I was a cheerleader for 13 years and this is something that I can't stand. Everyone deserves to cheer, its all about different people coming together to do something amazing!

Every child deserves to find and follow their dreams. Special needs, troubled children, EVERY child. I hope and pray that Maddie gets to chase hers... Good Job and much luck Maddie!!!!!

I am an occupational therapist in the school system in Virginia. A video to help her learn is not unreasonable.she should be allowed to participate.

This girl should be accommodated!!! It's obviously a passion for her! Have you seen kids with limitations on football teams or basketball teams? I have it and it is awesome for their morale and great for the team and school spirit!!
