I agree, it would be great for both Maddie and the school to include her on the cheer team! Go Maddie!

Please give her an opportunity to show you what she can do!! She isn't asking to "just be put on the team" she is asking for some simple accommodations to help her when she gets to try out. Accommodations she probably receives in school for everything else (and what she is asking is reasonable) so I don't see why this is a problem. She just wants to be like everyone else. For her, cheering is a great passion that so many of us share and she comes from an all-star background so she has dicipline for the sport. She isn't asking for a handout just an accommodation. If she makes it then her addition to this team will benefit everyone involved. It would help kids learn the value of inclusion and acceptance at a time when they are just trying to find out who they are and peer pressure is such a big thing. This new challenge of school cheer would benefit her not only because it is her passion, but because it will push her as an athlete to new expectations and in new ways she won't get in all star plus the added experience. Please accept the accommodations and give her a chance. I wish you thcould best of luck Maddie. You are loved and you deserve this chance.
