With heARTs throbbing, the Limpopo Arts & Culture Association (LACA) and the Community Artists Working Steering Committee hereby announce and invite:

16 yrs of democracy but Limpopo Province in South Africa remains without any publicly funded community arts infrastructure, facilities or resources; no theatre, art school, support centre, development programmes etc., despite the presence of an ever-growing Dept of Sports, Arts & Culture (DSAC).

Limpopo's dynamic and diverse ARTists and cultural practitioners (aspirants to veteran treasures) remain deprived & 'disARTvantaged', yet we continue to live with hope, spirit and vigour, and we constantly endeavour to create ways and means to uphold and implement South Africa's and Limpopo's Constitutional and Arts & Culture policies, and to develop, express, practice, develop and expose our Arts & Culture forms and opportunities. 

Finally, in this province of no arts infrastructure, we can confirm we have eventually managed to find and book a venue - on Friday July 8th 2011, Limpopoan ARTists from everywhere are gathering at the Wrestling Club on Suid St (by the Crcket Club) in Polokwane City for a HeARTthrobbing Celebration; free entry and open to the public! ARTists must volunteer their contribution as (as usual) there is no funding to support costs (ie transport/food/fees etc). We heARTily invite all ARTists and ARTlovers to join us in HeARTthrobbing Celebration - come show off your stuff and see other ARTists show their stuff!

The HeARTthrobbing Celebration will also see a be a celebratory march to the DSAC building, where we will wholeheARTedly continue our Celebrations to entertain all the DSAC staff, and we will hand over our SweetheART Appeal to the MEC (then return to the Celebration venue to continue our heARTthrobbing ....)..  

The SweetheART Appeal:

Limpopo’s ARTists hereby lodge heARTfelt appeal to our MEC and Authority Dept, to host/organise/implement a Provincial Limpopo ART & Culture Summit, within 3 months of receiving this appeal. The Dept and stakeholders have not met each other in too many years; we have dirfted apART instead of copARTnering. The ARTists of Limpopo wholeheARTedly appeal for the opportunity to be addressed by our MEC/Dept, and to address our Dept in turn, at such summit. Limpopo's ARTists want to be sweetheARTs of the Limpopo Dept Sports, Arts & Culture, and we believe the summit is where we can meet to engage and confirm a mutually heARTwarming and productively smART relationship. 

Please support our HeARTthrobbing Celebration, and please sign the SweetheART Appeal to the MEC of DSAC. The summit will enable any/all artists to address the DSC/MEC on any/all issues that they think need to be raised; and vice versa....
