Massachusetts Senate Bill S.1148 is a bill to get coverage for medications for those suffering from substance use.

These medications are meant to assist those who are detoxing from a substance to slowly and safely detox in order to not send their body into shock. Bill S. 1148 would have insurance companies cover the cost of these medications while the individual is in treatment. If an individual is able to slowly detox rather than quit "cold-turkey" it could help tp prevent them from relapsing, which in the long run could help insurance companies save money.

Substance use is rising among costal cities especially Boston; where heroin has been on the rise since 2012. With the number of individuals who are entering treatment for substance use rising there needs to be new implementation t assist them in healing and to assist in lowering the number of deaths per year. Please help to get this bill passed!

Too many of my friends have struggled with this. Anything that helps people get through treatment safely is a win in my book.

This is ridiculous that they dont cover this already. Insurance companies just care about profits while people are out there dying to get clean.

Sounds like something the insurance companies should pay for....
