Philadelphia police have been regularly able to commit acts of brutality without any consequences. Punishment has been avoided by the system of binding arbitration put in place by Legislative Act 111, which was passed by PA state legislature in 1968. This allows a third party arbitrator to ignore any punishment levied on the officer in question, and has more times than not led to police officers that were dismissed for their actions to be reinstated to the force with back pay. This act must be repealed and a new, more democratic system must be put in place to hold police accountable when they commit these acts of brutality. Sign this petition in order to make that goal a reality!

I have been spending my nights reading through your stories about how Act 111 continues to fail our neighborhoods. It is clear that the system is designed to protect the badge rather than the people. I am currently reaching out to local representatives to force a conversation about these reinstatements.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels like a crack in the wall we have been hitting for years. Watching so many people acknowledge exactly how this broken system protects brutality gives me hope that we can finally demand true accountability.

it is wild that we let stuff from 1968 dictate how things work now. they get away with everything and get paid for it too. time for a change

fix the system already. tired of seeing officers get their jobs back after doing awful things.

A law put in place in the late 60's is no way to handle modern police brutality. This law that was put in place 41 years ago and has shown to not impact police brutality in the slightest has no reason to not be abolishied
