On the 100th anniversary of independence, the Irish Republic sees rising homelessness, with almost 1900 children living in temporary accommodation, families living in hotels rooms, at a cost to the taxpayer of €21Million a year, banks & vulture funds causing unprecedented levels of eviction, rents at unaffordable levels and a government that neither hears nor cares.

Please add your voice to the campaign to build and restore homes for the homeless

I really thought this would stay a quiet local concern but the sheer number of people reaching out with their own stories has completely overwhelmed me. Please know that I am reading every single one of your messages even if I am slow to reply.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this effort to restore our local homes. Thismomentum belongs entirely to you and the families who deserve better.

There are.people and young families crying out for homes god love them . At this day and age this should not be happening, children suffering with no proper homes to settle in. If the counsil had any brains fix up instead of knocking down houses

I think they should put money into the houses and buildings that are boarded up and put people on the list and people that are homeless into them and help support them because some people need that extra support!! Dont be. Buying more or building more houses and creating more ghost towns it's a disgrace!!

It's unbelievable that there are so many vacant properties in the city itself - especially ones with wheelchair access - and no one in the council or government is making any real effort to use them.

Should be done as a priority, to enable those who want and need the assistance a solid base to build from and show that people are willing to help rather than just talk about helping solve a major issue in this county and country

All people should have a home in this day and age.
