Our dear friend, Adel-Ait-Ghezala, has been missing since the afternoon of January 1, 2014, when he was free diving 30km (20 miles) off the coast of Dubai, UAE. While we commend the unceasing efforts that have been made, we appeal to you on a humanitarian ground and request more support to help bring our Adel home. Time is running out. Please help us keep hope alive and expand the search and rescue mission for Adel. We need your help! Sign this petition to show your support for our below requests. – Help bring Adel home!

We request:

1. On humanitarian grounds, an expanded multi-national government search and rescue mission, involving the coast guards and/or navies of regional and foreign governments. The dedication and commitment of the government of the UAE, including of the Dubai and Abu Dhabi Coast Guards and the Dubai Police, have been nothing short of commendable. Time is of the essence and to help guarantee that Adel is quickly rescued, multi-government cooperation is needed. The US Navy and other governments have advanced search capacity that can aid in the search and rescue operation. On humanitarian grounds, we ask that the UAE join with other governments to expand the search and rescue mission. We also ask that neighboring governments cooperate on expanded searches.

2.Given that Adel is an Algerian citizen, we ask that the government of Algeria request support from the UAE and from the United Statesto aid in search and rescue.

3.Contributions of advanced search tools and resources includinggeographic mapping, planes, helicopters, boats, and volunteer teams of divers. We are extremely grateful for those who have given their time and effort to assist in dives and other search and rescue support to date. We know that the US and other governments have the tools and capacity to aid in this search! We request your help in seeking aid of those with tools to help.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO HELP MAKE THIS A REALITY! Help Keep Hope Alive

We need your signatures to help get support from regional and international governments. Please sign the petition and add your voice to bring Adel home.

Please share with your social media networks and email contacts. Please ask others to support the urgent appeal for help.

Background:
At around 4pm GST on January 1, 2014, Adel disappeared while diving with 3 friends and his wife Rana about 30km (20 miles) off the coast of Dubai. Despite search efforts by the UAE Coast Guard, Police, private and volunteer organizations, and support from the UAE Government, Adel has yet to be found. Adel is a PhD student and adjunct professor at American University in Washington, DC, where he has lived for over 10 years. He is an experienced competition level free diver. He is in top physical condition with in-depth understanding of open water survival skills. (read more about the Adel and details: http://goo.gl/dAKGk1). To date, a campaign launched by Adel's family and friends has raised over USD$55,000 to aid in private searches and has garnered a lot of support and attention on social media and an outpouring of international media coverage. We still need your help!

Thank you for your help and for keeping hope alive!

A hundred people have already signed this and honestly my hands were shaking when I saw the notification pop up on my phone screen. I keep thinking about Adel out there and how much this support actually helps me feel like I am doing something real even if I am just stuck in front of a laptop all day. Please keep looking for any way to get the word out further because we need the navies to see this and start moving.

Seeing this momentum grow feels like a lifeline when everything else just feels like waiting and staring at the horizon. I never thought so many people would care enough to stop and look at this but it proves that Adel is not just some name on a screen to all of you. We have to keep this pressure up because the ocean is huge and cold but seeing you all here makes me think we might actually get someone to listen.

The governments with naval forces in the area must go more to help the search operation. I'm disappointed in the US's lack if assistance.

I remember Adel from the ABA in Oman and am so sad to hear something this scary has happened to him and his family. I hope he has managed to survive somewhere and will be found and will return safely home. My family's prayers are with yours.

Asking for governments to go beyond there means is asking a lot, but asking for a little help to find a man that has the mind and ability to make a difference on this planet. I don't think we are asking for a lot. If you can spare a little time and effort, it will be greatly appreciated.
