Can you imagine having no shelter, no food, and no clothes? Going days without breakfast, lunch, and dinner? People in poverty are tired and weak, begging for food, feeling useless, and praying that they will survive.
Poverty affects over 40 million people living in America. In 2010, 17.2 million households were below the poverty line, with little food to survive. The number of people living in extreme poverty, or those with incomes below half the poverty line, rose to over 17 million people. It is the highest level on record since data first became available in 1975.
We are trying to persuade our legislators to get rid of the waste in our welfare system to allow people who need it to get it. Also, we are trying to get our government to create a dinner program in local schools.

im spending my night reading through all the comments you guys are leaving and honestly it is heartbreaking to see how many people are struggling just to get a meal. we are working on getting these points in front of the right local reps so they actually have to listen for once.

im honestly blown away by how much this has taken off lately. seeing so many people pushing for real change in our schools and welfare system is incredible and it proves we arent alone in this.

it is crazy that in a country this rich kids are still going to bed hungry. do better.
My heart breaks for these families. We definitely need more programs in our local schools
Too many hungry people in my city. We need to stop the bureaucracy and actually help people survive.

school lunches should be free for everyone period. stop the waste and start the meals.
