I've known I was different from the time I was 12. It took me a long time to realize why. When I was a teen we didn't even talk about being trans. I spent 15 years being suicidal and not knowing why. I just thought I was broken, damaged beyond repair. This is what forcing a trans kid to live a cis life does. The only thing that lifted the veil of depression for me was being able to be open and honest with myself and my family and allow myself to become the person I've always been deep inside.

Trans identities are valid and not a phase or an attention grab. There is just no reason no deny anyone their authentic self and no good can come of not supporting people in being who they already are.
