Help CUA Students Get Affordable Parking
The Catholic University of America is recognized as one of the best private institutions in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia). Attending the University is already expensive, and parking is one of the significant issues for commuting students like myself. The University urges commuting students, staff, and faculty to purchase one of the many available parking passes they offer. These passes range from insane amounts, from approximately $60 to even over $700. Commuting and struggling students like myself, it is almost impossible to gather that amount of money in such little time or have it available all at once; therefore, I am creating this petition to demand CUA to offer more affordable parking for commuting students, staff, and faculty considering the current prices are already high enough. Surely enough, the University mentions that cheaper parking alternatives are existing such as the ParkMobile or using the parking meters available but what they don't take into consideration is that this parking is only temporarily, meaning individuals have to keep moving their vehicles every few hours and keep refilling the meter for a new ticket every two hours. If individuals don't pay, they risk getting multiple tickets from the University. I think this is unfair, especially to students considering we are already paying school tuition, paying for our expenses (i.e., rent, loans, etc.), and still have to be afraid of getting fined or even booted by the parking enforcement in the school. By signing this petition, your signature will be helping push for change and help push affordable parking at The Catholic University of America. Together we can make the change happen!
