Anti-gay harassment, and its resulting indifference, has prompted the widespread growth of GSA’s. It is a safe space for LGBTQ youth and allies to find ways to increase awareness at CCA and in Chattanooga to reduce anti-gay bullying. I have experienced the positive impact that GSA's have on students, allies, teachers and school administrators, parents, and the community. Go for it. It will be a life changing experience. GSA organizations are critical to the lives of struggling LGBT high school students. These organizations provide students with a place where they can discuss the difficulties of being an LGBT individual in what can be a seemingly cruel social environment.
