Plea for Boston University: Give Honor Student Georgia Dray Honorary Degree After Tragic Suicide

Georgia, sweet Georgia.

We are deeply honored to share that Boston University will be recognizing our beloved Georgia on Wednesday, June 25th at 10:30 AM in the College of Arts and Sciences. This moment means the world to us. Rich and I are so grateful for the love, support, and encouragement we've received throughout our journey to make this recognition a reality. Thanks to the compassion and commitment of BU’s wonderful new administration and Associate Dean of Student Academic Life, Steve Jarvi, it is finally coming to fruition. Georgia’s light continues to shine, and we hope you’ll hold her in your hearts that day, as we will. ❤️

President Gilliam, please do the right thing by this student, her family and all of our Terriers and award this angel the posthumous degree she deserves. Show all of the BU community that our Terriers matter.

Every student life matters.

As parents of a Terrier, we want the memory of this young student to be remembered and honored for all her accomplishments even through her struggles with her emotional health that sadly win over her will. Our prayers are with her family and we are sure that BU under the new President will do what is correct, showing empathy and resilience towards the family of one of it own. We all care and we are sure BU cares too and this young lady was not just a number, she mattered, BU will act accordingly.

Thinking of Georgia and all students needing mental health help.

As a parent of a current BU student, I can't imagine the heartbreak this family has had to endure. Nor the heartache and loneliness Georgia herself endured before tragically ending her life, feeling she had nowhere else to turn. Her adult life was really just on the cusp of beginning. Please see it in your hearts and have compassion for the parents by honoring this young woman's journey at BU with an honorary BA degree.
