This petition is meant to pursue a mandatory helmet use policy at ski resorts. Snow sports are known to be some of the healthiest and enjoyable activities one can participate in. Unfortunately, many beginners over look the safety factors involved in the pursuits of skiing/snowboarding and the possible injuries one can sustain while participating in the above mentioned activities, the other side of this issue is the avid enthusiast who feels their level of ability does not warrant the need for a helmet. Regardless of ability level, it is in the best interest of all parties involved to promote and enforce a helmet use policy. Many ski resorts are ill prepared to deal promptly with traumatic head injuries and should themselves promote the additional protection helmets provide. Without the use of Advanced Life Support, any head injury, severe or mild, can be life threatening and time is of the essence in diagnosing and treatment. This petition hopes to promote the need of a mandatory helmet use policy and the support of each individual signature included in this petition shows the opinion of the general public who wish to see this policy in use at all ski resorts where no such policy is in effect currently.
