The town council just confirmed they are dropping the proposal to allow helicopters in our residential space. My head is spinning from the effort it took to reach this point but I am relieved we kept our peace and quiet intact. Let us stay watchful just in case this idea …

We hit one hundred signatures today and it has been an exhausting road to get here. I am tired of fighting this but seeing the local opposition gives me the energy to keep going.

Greg Mears and I are full time residents at Waterfronte. We are opposed to the installation of a helicopter tour service. There is a primary public safety issue. The pilots have minimal experience. Stationing this in a highly densely populated area is dangerous.

I'll pass on having a helicopter fly near/over my home several times a day. I prefer the small beach atmosphere that attracted me and my family to live here. I prefer the sound of waves to the sound of chopper blades. I support a no vote.

Open to helping get signatures on petitions from individuals who are not on social media. I think the safety, environmental and noise pollution issues of this business should automatically not qualify it to be something allowed in Carolina Beach and should be operated out of an airfield or airport.

Safety hazard and nuisance to members of our community. Self serving initiative at the expense of our citizens. Before going forward, hazard mitigation plans must be made public for debate prior to any vote. Non aviation experienced officials make these decisions without all information is a recipe for disaster.

I am very much opposed to this project for many reasons, but primarily for the health and safety of this community. I have previously lived in a beach community that let this type of business operated and it was extremely offensive to the bucolic nature of coastal living and quiet enjoyment.

I've been a resident of Carolina Beach for 20 years. We are proud of our town and beaches. As a member of Island Women, we strive to improve the quality of life for all residents and vacationers. Helicopters would DEFINITELY NOT be an asset to our family-friendly community.
