We are concerned with the future of the wetlands and natural areas along 134th Street and Avenue K and the consequences of the proposed development. We feel that it is important to protect our natural areas and keep our lakes clean and pollution free. We request that activity on the site be stopped until our concerns are addressed. This petition will be forwarded to the Southeast Environmental Task Force, Hegewisch, Chicago...who will then present it the developer and Alderman Pope.
I walk by the wetlands every evening and it breaks my heart to see the stakes already being driven into the ground. I am spending my afternoons calling the alderman's office to demand a real explanation for why this construction is moving forward so quickly. Please keep checking back because I will let you know the moment I get a response.

Seeing this kind of momentum behind protecting our local wetlands feels like the first real chance we have had to save these grounds. My grandfather walked these paths every day and I am doing this for the memories he left behind.

Enough with the construction. We need nature more than we need another strip mall.

This area is one of the last quiet spots left in the neighborhood. Stop building over everything and leave the wildlife alone.
