Heathrow Viewing Area

Fond memories of the Queens Building viewing facilities during those long summer holidays, where do parents now take children to view at Europe's premier airport........ Other European airports put Heathrow to shame, Frankfurt, Dussledorf, Munich, Amsterdam, Zurich, the list goes on. Airside tours at some of these as well. Heathrow could certainly learn from these other European airports how to operate public relations.

Much needed for us spotters, tired of being moved on by security at good spots...

Unless you're flying from T4 and can access the viewing room, what other enthusiast facilities do HAL offer now? They closed the Visitor Centre to the public, doubled up the perimeter fence - preventing photography and now move people on from public roads. The place is a joke. There is always the 'Grandstand', I suppose. You may even see an aircraft from there if you're lucky...

As a spotter/photographer for the last 50 years the 'facilaties' are as bad as they have always been. This is a bold hope to provide us dedicated enthusiasts and families some sort of facilities instead of standing out in the elements around the outer limits of Heathrow. It is worth a try but Heathrow Airport Limited only care about themselves and profits and not about any goodwill to the public and local people. But hey, good luck!

Along with many more I've been spotting at Heathrow. We were always allowed on the terraces/foots of the terminals. As many more have said , the authorities have fallen behind nearly every other airport in Europe. Unfortunately the same applies at the majority of British airports.

I have been going to LHR for years now to see the aircraft and log the registrations and have noticed it's getting harder and harder to find good locations for photos. Even just somewhere to stand to get the registrations is tough with the different runways in use and where they park. Something needs to be done to accommodate us spotters and attract other visitors that will be a source of income for the airport too.

Having used viewing facilities at other airports around the world Heathrow is put to shame by them all. Zurich & Amsterdam in particular both have full-length rooftop facilities. The old excuse of security doesn't wash anymore.

As an enthusiast brought up in the late fifties / early sixties who enjoyed the excellent facilities provided by both Heathrow and Gatwick, I fully endorse this petition to have new facilities at Heathrow and Gatwick. We once led the aviation world in airport facilities, but now Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and many more European airports leave us embarrassed now !

Whilst security is of paramount importance, restricting the freedom of individuals to express thier interests and hobbies is giving in to a small minority and limiting the freedom of the majority

If Manchester can do it there's no reason for Heathrow not too. Most major airports in Europe provide a facility of some sort.

Can only be more eyes for added security

Given the number of enthusiasts visiting the airport, at the very least, more car lark ng should be made available.

It would be great if Heathrow had a dedicated viewing area like the other great European and other world airports.

About time something was supplied by Heathrow Airport as they like us to be vigilant when around and report anything suspicious. Time for a bit of pay back.
