My dearest Judith, I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that God embraces you and your family with his strength and love during such a difficult time. Anthony Urena was not only a college student, but a good kid. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were suspicious as he was in a vulnerable state of mind; and we still do not have answers, just assumptions. His disappearance was totally out of character and you repeatedly advised and pleaded with the officers and media. The police department was negligent in not assisting immediately and following up! There should be no waiting period before they accept a case in this type of situation, and they should enter a person into the Missing Persons Database without delay and give priority to the handling of the report. Look at this link - http://www.criminaljustice.ny.gov/missing/#/k from New York State Govt: He should have been placed on the Missing College Student Alert database. When a Missing Child or College Student Alert is activated, information about the missing child or college student is distributed electronically throughout New York State to every police agency, television and radio stations and newspapers, New York State Thruway travel plazas/toll barriers, airports, bus terminals, train stations, border crossings, Alerting subscribers and others within minutes. Information is also posted to the DCJS website and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) website. Law enforcement failed to guide you accordingly. In this case the first 24 hours were crucial. The way it was initially handled by them and the uncaring responses you received to your inquiries were unacceptable. SUE NYC AND THE POLICE DEPT! Your family went through such emotional torture trying to do the job that law enforcement is paid to do. They exist to protect the community and they failed Anthony and your family. We as a community need to stay united, and assist you with this fight. Together we are one. May

The police department should get sued for their negligence! I thought it took only 48hrs for someone's disappearance to be able to file a police report not 72hrs.

This is so disgraceful all lives matter no matter the status of a missing person unbelievable that the police didn't do anything to help shame on them!
