I have a young friend who is a tree surgeon and l want the best for him and all the others. It would seem a simple measure to implement.

Improvements to industry standards could make the difference between life & death

For more awareness of our dangers upon our work place on a daily basis and life saving treatment is massivley valuable!

Accidents and incidents do happen but no 2 are the same. By learning appropriate industry (Arborist Specific) First Aid at least gives people the extra skills, confidence and knowledge and to combine this with the Aerial Rescue training surely means increased confidence within an Emergency Situation. It will be you or your friends that you will be helping, ticking boxes can obscure that element unfortunately.

Currently a low level climber at my company, fortunate enough to have experience in the medical field through the army. In my experience it is important to know, Life saving techniques.

First aid training is a pre requisite for aerial rescue consistency in Australia. Aerial rescuers are first responders and as such need these skills.

Good shout. It should be legal requirement for all climbers to carry torniquet and blod clot bandage in a small first aid kit on there harness at all times and should be taught how to use this too.

I am a full time firefighter who is also a fully qualified tree surgeon. I find it amazing how companies operate without at least 2 qualified first aiders per team. Most have one ( normally the climber) but if he is the one injured then who is there to treat them. Formal first aid training should be a prerequisite for working within the industry.

Instructing at Pershore college. Personally think students need to undergo trauma first aid in a ‘realistic’ environment. In my eyes, if it can save lives, im in.

Clearly having those carrying out the rescue fully trained to give life saving first aid must be an essential element of training and in most other industries probably would be compulsory.
