Please sign the attached petition in order to stop the redistricting plan affecting all Harford County Elementary schools, starting in the next school year (2011-2012). Here’s why you should sign this petition:
On November 11 2o1o The Harford county Board of Education released a draft redistricting plan for all Harford Co. Elementary Schools. The manner in which the HCPS supervisors technical advisory committee (STAC) and BOE drafted and presented the plan is nothing less than a government agency deceiving the people it is meant to serve. Focus groups were assembled to inform the community ... they were promised information in a timely fashion but instead they were left in the dark until time was on the side of the Boe & it’s Stac .
Now the March 2011 deadline is rapidly approaching and we are faced with the daunting task of drafting alternate proposals and viable solutions in short order. Please sign the petition below to slow down this process so we can all protect our communities !
The momentum behind this petition indicates that our community refuses to accept a rushed redistricting process. This collective energy confirms that residents demand transparency and adequate time to evaluate these proposals.

Ridiculous timeline. We deserve more time to look at these numbers. Stop hiding the data from parents!!

Why is the rush?? Seems like they dont want us to have time to actually understand what they are doing to our neighborhood schools.

Totally unfair. They kept us in the dark for months and now they expect us to just accept it. Push the date back.

This is moving way too fast. My kids shouldn't have to change schools just because the board is rushing this through.

Complete lack of transparency. Give the community time to breathe and look at the alternatives.

My son loves his teachers and his friends. Moving him for no good reason is just wrong. Slow this down.
