Of course he was correct. Had he killed somebody in an RTC on the way to the call he would have got the blame, not his Employers. Draconian uncaring slave driving management.

I applied to be an ambulance paramedic once. The entry tests are tough and I deeply respect the people who manage to do this gruelling job. When they asked at the interview how I'd cope with 12-hour shifts, I gaped and said, "!2-hour shifts? Why on earth do they do 12-hour shifts?" No-one can look after others without being looked-after themselves!

I know this man and he is a great guy, great paramedic and a truelly supportive colleague! Sometimes this job needs to be more like him, supportive and understanding instead of sending our souls to cherry picking journalists who tarnish who we are and what we stand for!

A good paramedic struck off for being honest a and looking out for both himself and his patient. Had he attended and caused an accident what would of been written then.

So he was the only resource in the area. Had he responded to this call, the next call would've had to wait 90mins for an ambulance! I think the Service needs looking into...

I'm an IHCD Technician working across various nhs trusts. the pressure on the teams on the ground is immense, and if for safety reasons a HCP decides they are unfit to work to the safest level, then they should absolutely stand-down so as not to put themselves or others at risk. The HCPC is supposed to be a body of "Experts"- clearly none of them have been near an Ambulance in London for atleast 10years. No breaks in a 13hour shift? yet in a hcpc hearing they break fot tea, coffee and lunch etc.... disgusting!

I am currently an ambulance technician and am due to start my Paramedic course this year. This incident troubles me because there is enough pressure on Paramedics anyway, without the added worry that the HCPC can't see that the system is a fault here, not the clinician.
