It's time the service started looking after its staff! Surely all this case has proved is that those up top don't care about those actually doing the job - or don't even know what the job entails!

He should not be punished for recognising that he was not able to work to his full abilities and there for would put patients at risk. I wish him good luck with the future.

There but for the grace of god go I ....and many others. Been so tired at times I found it hard to put one foot in front of the other and the thought of another job.....let alone a late one.

should of never got this far, the hse should look at the trust/dispatcher for not providing adequate breaks for there staff!

thousands of paramedics are pushed to their limits daily by a failing system and employers that are more interested in hitting their targets and getting the funding linked to those targets than they are in the safety and welfare of their most important asset, their staff. It is about time the HCPC started supporting the people who pay a significant sum of money to them just so they can go their work....

The paramedic was in a no win situation, had he attended this job and in his exhausted state made for example: A bad clinical judgement, gave more of or even a wrong drug, had a collision in while driving or made some other mistake, he'd have found himself suspended or struck off for that too.

I work in conjunction with paramedics and see their exhaustion. They often work without any break from one job to another without the same consideration they are expected to give to patients. disgraceful.
