shocking verdict from the HCPC. They should be protecting Mr Daly. Paramedics have have to make split second live saving/changing decisions. Paramedics should not be making these 11hrs 20mins into their shift with no rest break or downtime! HCPC protect who you regulate!

Matt, I have to say your comments are spot on. We need to start looking to address the real issues and start taking care of the people that are taking care of the patients. Do this and patients will be happy and safe and so will staff.

I feel very strongly that Mr Daly has been seriously wronged. The way ambulance crews are being worked at the moment is inhumane. This Gentleman has given 30 years to careing for patients. 11 hours working through the night, emergency driving and dealing with patients with NO break leaves you in a dangerous state of exhaustion. Mr Daley gets my full support to say he could not continue with another incident. This would have meant he would likely have worked 13 hours with no break. It then happens again the next night shift and then the next. Prisoners cannot be treated the way front line Ambulance crews are treated. This gentleman's decision needs to be reversed and apology needs to be issued.

This man's priority was the public.........exhausted.... its not rocket science you can't continue to work when you have no fuel left . I applaud this man for making the right judgement call. hcpc should be ashamed with their statement

He recognised his own tiredness could put himself, his patient and others in danger. He should be applauded. We are not super heroes, we do a hard enough job as is, we're human. Instead of blaming the paramedic why not look at the system - why he was forced to make that difficult discussion in the first place.

The constant fatigue broke me, I've now left the service. It's the unfair expectations and the extremely poor support that needs to be addressed. We are so desperate for experienced clinicians... This is a mistake which so clearly needs rectifying before lots more paramedics get burnt out. This is a very sad case indeed.

disgusting to see that staff welfare is not a priority. it is not frontline workers duty to fatigue themselves trying to cope with the demand. it's up to the service/trust to ensure adequate resources to allow meal breaks, special breaks or down time for other reasons.

Risk Assessment prior to any practise, including being fit and well to carry out that task, namely drive to an emergency when sleepy and tired! HSPC you are so wrong with this decision
