Another side point on this shocking decision by the HCPC would be that they have deemed that we are an 'Emergency' service and have exemptions to the working time directive as they have completely dismissed the fact that Mr. Daly had worked over 11 hours without a break, whereas we are told that we are an 'Essential' service with regards to pensions, length of service for retiring etc. This unfortunate event could just turn the page for us if it is allowed to stand, as they (L.A.S.) have in essence sacked a man for refusing to break the law!!

It's really good to see front line clinicians becoming bold enough to make a stand against the miscarriages of justice which we know are far more commonplace than are made public. I've been expressing my concerns about these issues on my Broken Paramedic blog and in the media since my medical retirement from service (EEAS) in 2012 as I have the advantage of being able to speak freely without fear of employer reprisals.

A lorry driver would loose their licence if they worked the hours Ambulance staff are expected to. Tired Ambulance Staff are at the same risk of making a mistake as a tired lorry driver.

this is so wrong. If they had gone out to the job and did something wrong due to been too tied not only would the be struck off but they would have to live with the fact that they did something wrong. I think it's time all paramedics told the HCPC to stuff it.

Fully support this petition. What a horrendous choice he faced. Better for someone else to attend than for him to make what could be a fatal mistake. Appalling behaviour by the employer if this is anywhere near accurate.

Control have a duty of care to ensure all staff have adequate breaks during their shift, I'm sure the control staff did!

30 years of dedicated service, missed christmas's, birthdays, school plays, family gatherings and no doubt an adverse effect on his overall health and his career is ended like this.
