It has been said to be impossible to adapt to cinema. We can all agree that to make the Silmarillion into a simple trilogy would not capture the unbelievable detail and lore found therein.

That being said, George RR Martin had previously stated that adapting his series to film would also be impossible.

This is where HBO comes in. I think we can all agree that The Game of Thrones has been one the biggest successes in television history and that can easily be attributed to HBOs willingness to invest whatever is necessary into making a show successful.

We strongly believe that there would be no better organization to capture the majestic beauty and detail of the creation of Tolkien's universe than that of HBO, and believe that not only would it be a massive success, but that it will also be one of the most impressive storytelling experiences ever to appear of TV.
