We are being taxed on unrealized capital gains. Should be on actual purchase price, and not increased until purchased again. Who is getting wage or income increases that correlates with the high tax cost increase? Totally is not reasonable.

I'm your sister, I hope this counts for something. I never hear from you, yet I'm signing this petition. Why? Because you're my brother and I love you.

I would appreciate some type of information on who put this petition together since it requests money at the end. I signed this when it was first started and it is hard to believe there would be such few signatures if this is a valid petition. I have submitted again with another email I use. Would the person who initiated this petition please email me and let me know more information on the status. Thanks

I agree purchase vs market value price should be the key in order to protect long-standing owners. Who are getting priced out of their homes due to the exorbitant pricing hikes in the housing markets.

This practice needs to stop. People were already pushed out of Austin, now starting to push out of the suburbs.

Property taxes need to follow a more rigorous practice than just raising them based on what if sales price value comparisons. Does a state appraise a person for what they might earn or what they do earn same applies taxes are set at time of sale not arbitrary assessment subjective to ither properties in various states of repair.

48+ years in Wimberley and I've owned the home I hand built with no help from a lender or the government for 43 yrs. The property tax is the most unjust tax in our system and needs to be abolished!

I am disabled and on a fixed income. The increases in taxes are forcing me out of my home if something isn't done.

Purchase price is a much fairer way to assess taxes. We could easily afford our house in Wimberley when we bought here. Now we're going further and further into debt while trying to hang on here until elderly parents living nearby pass on so we can sell and leave the area. Our income has gone up some, but the tax assessment on our property has gone up just unbelievably -- exponentially outstripping any rise in wages. We really could never have anticipated that 20 years ago when we bought here.
