I am starting this petition to try to make the Hawkes Learning System available for Math 209 students this summer and in subsequent semesters. Personally, I have found Hawkes to be the most helpful tool in mathematics education that I have ever experienced and I know I will get the most out of my tuition with the program in hand. I have spoken to countless other students who feel the same. To me, it only seems logical that CCNY makes the program available for every math class, but they do not plan to do so. If you feel that you would benefit from this program in the future, please sign this petition or even reach out to the mathematics department directly. It is also helpful to leave a comment on this petition to tell your story!

Seeing the growth of this movement has been exhausting but it proves I am not the only one feeling this frustration. I have been reading your stories and they validate exactly why I started this fight even when the department ignores us. We keep pushing forward.

Hawke's Learning has been the best software unlike Web-Assign. This program truly helps me learn and understand the concept and it makes me feel confident enough to understand it without having to rely on a tutor.
As a student who works full time, I experienced that hawkes is one of the best learning tool for mathematics. I was able to learn and be flexible at the same time while working a 40hrs job. Hawkes is not only flexible, but it also helps the professor keep track how hard a student is trying to learn the subject. Hawkes is a terrific learning tool for people that work and go to school.
Hawkes Learning System was instrumental to my learning Elementary Calculus at CCNY. It is simple, straightforward, and can be utilized from any location. It generates it own practice tests and is generally of far greater value than a textbook of far greater cost. It should be a standard tool for students.
If it wasn't for this program, I would still not understand and hate math. Through this program I have gained the confidence to do math on my own, without a calculator because of doing the problems over and over again. It targets and tells me what I need to practice specifically. I am actually understanding math and not just memorizing formulas!
Hawkes Learning System provides detailed steps that is needed to be done when solving math problems. Webassign on the other hand provides questions and expects us to understand what we are doing when we see it for the first time. Hawkes Learning System is a lot more productive when learning new concepts in math.
Hawkes Learning System is an amazing way to learn, understand, and love mathematics. In my short use of this tool I became deeply interested in Mathematics. I believe an extensive use will help a lot of students adapt to College level Mathematics
For mathematics/related subjects, the only way to learn the material is to solve assigned problems. Hawkes allowed me to understand how to solve problems on a fundamental level since it explains every single step to complex questions. Webassign/WileyPlus simply tell you if your answer is right or wrong and not much else. Hawkes has been the first online course software where I feel my money was well spent. The vast majority of students in STEM end up learning material by watching videos and doing related problems, not by sitting in on lecture- 90% of which is the professor explaining the topic to themselves at THEIR pace, which is hilariously ironic given that they've been doing it for years and everything seems 'obvious' to them. Hawkes allowed me to learn at my own pace and move on to new material having built a solid foundation of previous topics. The standard model of teaching mathematics is byzantine- if the goal of an educational institution is to teach there's no reason to avoid adopting software which both speeds up learning and increases the students' comprehension of the material. It's honestly a travesty that some of the weeder classes at CCNY exist solely to stroke a professor's ego. These topics are NOT that difficult, and Hawkes helped me understand that. I'm glad for once that one of my professors had the courage to implement a teaching model that focuses on actual education and not extraneous concepts. It doesn't matter if you're an absolute idiot or a genius- it's impossible to not know the material by the end of a class using Hawkes.

I found Hawkes Learning System to beneficial because it allowed me to learn statistics at my own pace. I was able to repeat the lessons until I learned to solve the problems. I believe all students could benefit from this technology.
