The digitization of all of Hawai'i's historical and genealogical records is considered important and vital to the survival of our cultural knowledge and understanding.
By signing this petition, you are showing your support for efforts to have the State of Hawai'i government be open and clear about current and/or future plans and projects to digitize all of Hawai'i's historical and genealogical records in the possession of the State of Hawai'i government. That such plans are made public and open to the input of the Hawaiian people. That such plans; if they exist, be explained in full detail.
That if such plans are not currently in place or are lacking in their scope, that efforts are taken to make such plans and provisions so that all historical and genealogical records maintained within the State of Hawai'i government system are included. That access to digitized records now or in the future be made free and clear of any fees to the general public through an internet portal that is free of any passwords, login requirements, encryption or other means that require any personal information be provided by the end user and prevents the end user from accessing said records in a manner considered reasonable and that access include the ability to print and/or download said digital records.
about time. my family has been trying to find old records for years and the bureaucracy is a nightmare. keep it free and open to everyone like it should be.
