Hawaii Cheerleading Judging Questionable

Unfair. What are they teaching these kids? Favoritism doesn’t get you far. Hard work and dedication does. We need mainland judges because everyone knows each other some how. & since judges CANT put their personal relationships aside we NEED NEW JUDGES! & looking at Campbell’s score sheet only pointed the SMALL THINGS OUT. & how do we score lower than preseason but we up our routine. I don’t understand. My team is so hurt from this panel of judges. & it is my JOB as coach to protect my team. It was funny that we couldn’t find the judges after the competition because we did had some questions. YOU CANT BEAT FAVORITISM!!!

In case any of you haven't seen the 2018 Westerns Cheer Competition yesterday or would like to review the performances, I posted the links to the videos of all the Varsity Cheer Teams below. I also posted their scores at the bottom. The videos of the Cheer Teams are listed in order of the scores that the judges gave them, starting with 8th place. After you review each Varsity cheer team's performance, you will see what teams weren't given the points they derserved. This was truly an unfair competition for all the cheer teams that competed at the Westerns on 10/21/18. All the cheer teams did an amazing job! We enjoyed all of your performances. But it was obvious that Kapolei and Campbell was robbed of the points they deserved and should have placed much higher than what the judges gave them. The videos will prove that. Wrong, both teams placed where they should have. Understand the scoring process and you will understand the results.

Many of those teams did better than what they got, this is unfair

I have watched and witnessed unfair judgement for the past 4 years now with the cheer competitions in Hawaii. But this past scoring and placing that the judges gave some of the cheer teams for the Western Cheer Competition was way lower than what they deserved. I am hoping that this petition and our voices will reach the right people so that they will reconsider having the judges change their scoring, especially after reviewing all the videos of the Varsity teams that competed this past Saturday, October 21st. This was so wrong of the judges to rob Kapolei and Campbell of the points that they deserved! As we watched the videos of all the Varsity teams over and over again, we just don't understand what the judges based their scoring on. Don't get me wrong, all of the cheer teams did an amazing job! But the technical and tumbling skills that Kapolei and Campbell performed was so much more difficult than the ones that some of the other schools did and those schools placed higher. This only brings us to a very obvious conclusion, which is the judges were unfair! I hope the director of the Hawaii Cheer Competition reviews all of the Varsity performances of the Westerns on October 21st. Then he or she will see how poor of a job the judges they hired and paid to do a fair job messed up!!

I’ve had enough, FOR REAL! I am here for our YOUTH.

We must protect our youth from ANY type of intentional impartiality. Please let’s see this through. Thanks

It’s a very sad day for the adults when our youth have to step in and be the example. Together we can make a difference.

Don’t get bitter just get better!

Dropping a pyramid, stepping way, and I mean waaaaay off the mat, all within a so-so routine and placing 4th. Doing a nice but mediocre at best routine and placing second. Did see a couple judges having difficulty with the stairs-- didn't realize they were blind. I'm not calling for better judges next time; I'm calling for a new panel of judges either from outer island or the mainland to review all the teams and re-score them. If the result is the same I'll accept it. This panel had alumni of the schools they were judging. Who thought that was a good idea? Oh yeah, 2nd place. Smart move throwing 4th place in there since they'll not be a threat.

I hate seeing the girls cry because they know they left everything they had on the mats and yet got placed so low!

It's not just some random complaint, this has been a constant issue with bias judges. it's time for a change!
