So Dissapointed of the judges

The kids that go to ACA choose to go there because they love the sport of cheer. Those same kids also can choose to go whatever school they want to go to and their parents also support their choices. It’s not recruiting if it’s the kids choice. In the past 5 years Moanalua has won States twice and OIA 3 times. They win because they have talented kids that work hard. Not because they are the judges favorite. If all you parents have an issue with the way your kids teams are placed, have them up their level at a cheer or gymnastics gym. Also talk to your kids coach about what the scoring system is like so you can understand how and why teams get great scores. Lastly, teaching your kids that first place is the only win is sad. Being a true champion is not about winning 1st but doing your best.

People saying go to a different school, join all star or stay out of cheer if we can't handle the placing, clearly don't see the picture. Other schools continuously worked their butts off to execute the highest skills possible but all their hard work was overlooked because the judges were favoring schools who did great but lower level routines. What's the point of competitions if you know what schools always win because of bias judges

Don't stop fighting no matter what anyone says! If you stop now the judges will just continue to choose favorites and ignore the actual scoring system. We need unbiased judges!

I can honestly say that based off of the videos I've seen, I would've ranked them EXACTLY how they were ranked. You can have the skill but it's all about performance. And I hate to say this, but it all reflects on the coaches. The athletes work hard but the coaches have to work harder to ensure success to their athletes. And if athletes dont think they'll thrive in their "home" school, then they should have the option to choose a school that is "meant" for them. Same for college, you choose a school that is "BEST" for you. Don't make this any more problematic that it should. If you don't like the standings, don't blame the judges. If you want to see more with your athlete, put them in an all star team or in private classes with coaches who know cheerleading on a nationally competitive level where they are tested to be certified for their knowledge of the sport. Put in the work. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

Campbell did amazing

My daughter is a cheerleader for one of the team’s in question. As I know my daughter & her team worked just as hard as Campbell or Kapolei, I do believe there is favoritism. I witnessed firsthand one of the coaches on her phone as Campbell was performing. I remember telling my husband I should’ve taken a picture of this person. It’s just sad that this happening. I feel for teams like Kapolei or Campbell but mostly feel bad for my daughter’s team because now they feel less of for not truly earning their spot.

Aloha Everyone, Iʻd like to say that the past few years of being involved in the cheer community and a cheer mom myself, my concerns on the fairness of these recent competitions grew. Each year/comp, we see the SAME teams at the top. This could be a factor of: 1.) Biased judging due to favoritism, and/or 2.) Recruiting. At comps I have observed that some coaches and judges seem this relationship where they would just "wala au" and what not, prior to the show as if they are friends. That goes to show that these coaches got the judges on a string and use them to their own advantages, which seems to be quite unfair for the most part because it does establish a bias. Recruiting does seem to play a big factor as to why we see the same teams placing and winning titles every year and in my mind, a lot of us, we already assume who's gonna be first place and itʻs honestly quite sad that this happens because it put our girls and boys into this mindset that they are not good enough for first and to just shoot for second place. Now before I say what I need to be said, I just want to let everyone know that I am not "talking stink" and putting down other teams but rather stating facts to prove a point. In the last 5 years or so we could see Moanalua in first place for OIAʻs and States. This is probably in correlation to recruiting. We already know that the coaching staffs are apart of ACA outside leauge cheer staff. If we take a look at the demographic of those girls on their competition team, I could bet you some, or even most of them are not from the Salt Lake/Moanalua demographic. What I'm guessing is that Moanalua cheer staff has recruited them from their outside league team (ACA) and I'm pretty sure most people on here can agree with that. First of all, that doesn't seem to be fair for the girls who truly belong to the Moanalua demographic area because what if they wanted to make the team but that spot was taken by someone who wasnʻt from there. At least give the girls

If you understand cheer and understand the score sheet you would have a better understanding of how and why teams placed the way they did. Aiea, pearl city and Leilehua target was much higher than Campbell and that’s why they placed higher. All teams did great, but if you want better scores you need to hit the target. #getyourfactscorrect

Hire out of state judges Bottom line... No more favoritism !

Bring judges from another state to stop nepotism in Hawaii. The kids work way too hard for it be decided because of friendship or $.

Cellphones should not be permitted during the judging, so that the cheer teams are judged fairly!
