This was a symbol of Southern Pride long before race-centric interests from the right, and more recently the left, co-opted it.
It deserves to be de-politicized and returned to the public sphere.

As a disabled veteran and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, I care deeply about honoring this country’s history, my family’s legacy and the Confederacy’s memory. Erasing confederacy history from memory is unjustified and only further divides American culture, society, and politics.
