Dear Mr. Oatman,
We are really disappointed to hear that our emails are being cut off after 230 days. Throughout the year, we've been assured that our email addresses would persist after graduation. Many of us have purchased business cards with our Harvard email based on these assurances, and CSO has been advising students to use their Harvard email addresses in the job search. We will also be losing access to contacts we’ve emailed with relation to our roles at Harvard, which negatively impacts our future ability to network.
Furthermore, many of us have saved work on our Google Drives and this short notice makes it difficult for us to finish finals, continue the job hunt, worry about saving past work, and update our contacts with new email addresses.
We would like to ask that you reconsider this change in policy, since it was done with such short notice for current students.

The volume of support reflects the urgency of this transition for our cohort. I have begun drafting a formal letter for Mr. Oatman to ensure this feedback reaches his desk by the end of the week.

In the past as Harvard has transitioned IT policies they have applied the policy only to new individuals. Is there a reason there was no transition policy for this decision?
I thought that I would have this email for life. I have all my cards with this email address and it is one of the reasons that I shelled out $65k for one year of education... please let us keep our Harvard email addresses!
I have been job hunting with my email address after specifically being told by CSO that I could keep it. This is incredibly important to me being employed. Please let us keep it.
I am initiating a businesss and my Harvard email adds credulity to the job. I printed cards with this email all over it....
This is a pretty ridiculous policy. I've kept my undergrad email for 5 years with no problem and there seems to be no legitimate reason to terminate our emails.
Everything is linked to our Harvard emails, ranging from academic to business uses. Please note that it is really important for us to keep that email address valid. Thank you.

This is a complete about-face of information we have been told throughout the academic year. Certainly a university of Harvard's (not just HGSE's) size, stature, and influence can negotiate a way for our emails to persist.
