Longer sentences. It seems judges let these criminals out as soon as they are arrested. We need stiffer bonds and penalties .

Mom's truck was stolen. Got truck back thanks to albuquerque people and APD. Many items left behind by theives living in the truck.
APD was not interested in items or fingerprints.

Please pass this!! We need more harsh penalties, if not then people are going to start going vigilante on these criminals. We are getting tired of criminals getting slapped on their wrist yet we still must pay in one way or another. Thank you!

A family members truck was stolen just a few days ago & this not only hurts the owner of the car but the whole family. Things need to change.

This has to stop. It's out of control, these thieves keep getting released within a couple of days. People rely on their transportation to get to work to support their family to go to doctor appointments. For some people it's their life line. Something has to be done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a work truck stolen from a locked facility - the thieves crashed it through a fence, then took it out and stripped all the tools off it then washed the inside and dumped it in the South Valley.
My daughter had her truck stolen from her front yard. One of my employees had a thief attempt to steal his pickup from his front yard. Another one of my employees did have his truck stolen from his front yard.
It's out of control in this city.

Many cars stolen are later used in more serious and/or violent crimes.
Tougher penalties to keep repeat offenders out of society for a longer time would help to deter other crimes committed using stolen vehicles.

Completely agree with all comments. We as citizens of Albuquerque, need to VOTE for change and let our voices be heard to the lawmakers in Santa Fe, they supposedly represent us and our best interest. Let them know how you feel, email, leave messages by phone, show concern about the problem of crime in our city, bug the heck out of them ! I fear we might take care the problem and solve it ourselves with violence, and good law abiding citizens will end up behind bars from the same judges that let theses criminals go,

Albuquerque needs to become famous for more than Cops, Breaking Bad, drunk drivers and car thieves. We are moving out of here.

My brother's car was stolen a few months ago. I was living in the NE heights and his car was parked in front of my house. It had been parked there for over 3 months because it broke down on him. He was saving up to get it fixed and was finally going to be able to fix it that weekend before it was stolen. When he called the police to report it stolen, the officer told him it wasn't in their data base or picked up by a towing service. Two weeks later he got a letter from the police department saying they had his car, in fact they picked it up that same night it was stolen because the car broke down on the thief since it wasn't running well. We're upset that APD didn't notify my brother that night & why the officer who took the report didn't find it in their system? Also, APD waited nearly 3 weeks to notify him that they had his car & were charging him over$500 to get it. He was told the thief had used a tool in the ignition and kind of messed it up. Since my brother didn't have the money, he had to leave it there. I think it was so unfair for APD to charge him when it was stolen, not because it broke down on him and he just left it parked somewhere! APD probably made some money on the car by auctioning it! APD needs to revamp their policies!

The crime in Valencia County is just as bad if not worse, we are unfortunately victims ourselves. and our 2006 f350 Superduty was never recovered. We're very happy to see someone step up and voice the problem.

My truck was stolen recently and luckily they found it the next day. Made me real angry. Police told me everyday vehicles are stolen.
