We,the undersigned, strongly believe that the harms done to the surrounding communities of the Alliance Sanitary Landfill (ASL) far outweigh the benefits provided by ALS in its request for expansion.
Results of the 2008 air quality test shows that the air quality in the surrounding communities of ASL is in fact harmful given that the result was indeterminable. Also, the fact that this test was conducted while the intake of refuse at ASL was at a minimal amount, it cannot be considered a true indicator of the air quality surrounding ASL and therefore is a key factor, among many other health issues, in our request to deny the expansion.
Among the testimony given at Riverside High School on January 13, 2010, in favor of ASL expansion, the main factor in all of the arguments was financial gain. At the urging of the undersigned, Old Forge Borough Council refused the most recent financial proposal from ASL, putting the health of its residents ahead of any monetary gain.
Therefore, we request that you review all of the hard data and facts, and deny the application for expansion by Alliance Sanitary Landfill.
NOTE: The petition was faxed to DEP in order to meet the deadline of 2-22-2010. Thank you for all of your input & feel free to keep contributing.
The quiet reality of living next to the landfill remains a daily concern despite the arguments for financial gain presented at the hearings. I am currently compiling the personal accounts you have shared so that we can present a clear picture of how these decisions affect our neighborhood health.

Seeing this movement grow beyond my initial expectations carries a profound weight. It confirms that the health of our community remains a priority that cannot be traded for financial gain.

Absolutely ridiculous. Nobody wants to live next to a bigger dump. Keep it the size it is now.
