Hardship Registration for the Arabian Horse Association

Should AHA decide to allow registration for rescue Arabians, mares, geldings and stallions, it would open a new window for horses, which have been dumped for example in kill pens without papers. Interested parties would be more likely to rescue a registerable horse than one which they cannot register and therefore not show in any classes at any AHA shows. It would also give AHA additional income, because of the new registration. All around a win/win situation. Hope AHA will grant this.

There are a shocking number is Arabians in kill pen lots headed for slaughter, not to mention the half Arabs. If I had room for the ones I have helped save, I'd probably be up to 20 in just the past couple of months. That's not counting the ones that didn't get saved. In Louisiana, there are usually 3-5 per week just at the Bastrop Kill Pen alone. These are fine horses, even young, trained and healthy horses. They do not deserve this ending.

I believe all arabians should not be denied their heritage. See no harm in this as long as they are gelded/ spayed.

My mare has lost her papers, I would really like to get them back.

I have rescued 2 Arabians and would love to know their heritage DNA, etc.

I'm the Executive Director of a horse rescue in Washington state called Save a Forgotten Equine. We rescue more Arabs and Half Arabs than any other breed through Animal Control seizures and owner hardship surrenders. The majority come to us with no pedigree information, not even a registered name. The Pacific Northwest has a robust Arab show circuit but our adopters (and potential adopters) can't participate because their Arabs are not registrable. A hardship registration confirmed by DNA testing would open up a whole new world of possibilities for these horses, making it much easier for rescues like ours to find them good homes and open up space for us to rescue other horses in desperate need. Please AHA, consider implementing a hardship registration and give these horses a second chance!

I have a rescued Arab gelding and would love to be able to show him in Half-Arabian classes. Currently, I am restricted to open classes. My horse is a very well built representative of the breed and I am sure he would represent the breed well.

Please change the rules to allow hardship registrations. Thank you.

I am not sure of my AHA # but I have had both rescue ARABs and Arabs off good arab farms and opening up a hardship registration would open the ranks to people who have good horses to show with them.

I have helped rescue, foster, rehome,,& have adopted arabians that have come from seizures, emergency surrenders, etc. While I do not show, I think it would be great to be able to maintain a history & heritage for these horses through registration. I know there can be some help for registering horses through DNA testing, but there are some that could prove more difficult to trace if both sire & dam are unknown.

Would love to register a half arabian i rescued from a shelter. Its been difficult navigating through The legalities of the lein foreclosure.

I have a beautiful Egyptian mare that came from a humane society seizure of over 70 Arabians in Arkansas. She is out of registered parents but I have no information on who they were. It's a shame she has lost her heritage.
