Please reject AST request to use the 70 cm spectrum for commercial purposes.
I believe that it can interfere with Amateur Radio operations. most importantly the frequencies that use that area for Emergency Operations.

70cm is essential for urban & Suburban disaster operations. Several hurricanes have shown we need more than 2m frequencies for this purpose.

The amateur bands are amateur bands, not for commercial use. We do not encroach on other bands, and private companies should not be allowed to encroach on amateur bands.

I support all aspects of space innovation and research; this proposed usage is not that but rather a "shoving over" of non-commerical intersets and legacy users by a for-profit user too lazy to find their own channels or band plan. In the interest of just disaster response and public service alone, this usage by AST should cease.

Stop the corporate and military steal. All this infrastructure is the first to fail and that is reason amateur radio needs to maintain that frequencys allotted to it.

Amateurs have spent millions if not billions of dollars putting up repeaters, many of them linked making them extremely useful in emergencies, in addition to mobile, base, and hand held radios.
The largest linked system in Wisconsin uses this band and if often used for SKYWARN emergency nets.
70cm band is on well over 1/2 of mobile radios, and hand held radios.
Even if access was granted away from the most used sections of the band, thousands and thousands of radios are out there that can transmit on the frequencies. The bandwidth is also not narrow like business band. Anything satellite based would need particularly robust filtering to avoid amateur transmissions.
There are MANY more bands that can be used that would not take away from the amateur bands.
The 70cm band is FAR too populated to take from the amateur community that volunteers its services and equipment for free when needed in emergencies.
These systems are also used to support charitable events.
The lost economy of all those radios, repeaters, antennas etc. would be significant. And you would be making millions if not billions of equipment obsolete, most likely without compensation. Those systems would need to be removed from commercial radio towers at a significant cost to the repeater owners, and a loss of revenue for tower owners.
Simply put, the 70cm band is far too popular, and important to sell to commercial interests that will not serve the citizens like amateur radio does.
Moving to >500MHz and <800MHz is a more logical option.
