With most public service abandoning the 450-470 Mhz band for P25, those frequencies are a better choice and near enough to the 430-440 Mhz amateur band for identical propagation and close enough in frequency to not require a major equipment redesign.

I've worked hard to support emergency communications and the FCC should support, not hinder UHF communications. AST is a disaster in the making.

70 CM has proven to be an important band for ham radio usage, particularly in EMCOMM type situations. I don't think ham usage should be encroached upon further by AST.

Amateur radio is often the only method of communication during times of natural disasters. The specific frequencies designated by the FCC and ITU are in a harmonic relationship with one another. The amateur portions of the spectrum are quite small and should be preserved for their already established use and not authorized for commercial operations.

Commercial operators should not be allowed in bands designated by the ITU for amateur operations. Not only will it pose huge risks for interference (as it has done already), it will also set a dangerous precedent where intenationally recognised band allocations are ignored.

Commercial entities can find adequate spectrum elsewhere, without encroaching on a band that is frequently used for emergency communications.
