June 2017

It has been unearthed that WI lawmakers could slip into the up in coming budget a plan that would be devastating to our beautiful wineries across our great state. The plan is to prohibit wineries (and breweries) from selling their product on site. This includes tasting rooms and retail operations. It would force them and regulate them to sell through our liquor distributors. Having been around this great state to many of the wineries, I can stay this would be a business killer for them. Please join me and saying "HANDS OFF MY WINE"

The feedback from local business owners has been heavy and rightfully fearful about what this change would mean for their livelihoods. I have been spending my nights tracking legislative movements and it is clear that they want this move buried deep in the budget process. We are not vanishing and we are not going to let them dismantle these small businesses quietly.

Craft brewing and the tap rooms have become popular and are gaining market share at a steady clip. Solution? Make a better product? No. Why do that when you can bribe legislators to draft unfair laws that can crush the competition like ants?! Distributors that rely on the volume deals of horse piss are starting to see their profits taper off, so should they adapt to the changing marketplace? Heavens no! Just get a crooked law passed to artificially prop up your crappy business model. Fantastic. I'm excited for more mediocrity, aren't you? :(

It's already a shame that you force these wineries to close at 9 p.m. and now you want to force them to close altogether?! The distributors already have it made in this state, please give the little guys a chance to achieve something.

As a 'tourist' in your state (I live in IL), I can say that the craft breweries & wineries bring me, and many other people in - along with our money. WI gets sales tax from gas, food, hotels, and of course the craft beer or wine. It is only GOOD for your economy if people like me keep coming and spending our money in your state. I will not, however, be coming to visit if I have to go to a bar or a store to purchase the craft spirits. If you shut down the brewery's and winery's ability to sell their product, it doesn't mean we will instead go to the bar or the store... we just won't come to your state at all.

I don't go to bar Ever . But to like the winery's . I won't go to Bars either. Don't like the atmosphere in them. Don't it this away from people like me.

Gee, thanks. We don't do much. We don't ask much. This is one thing we do enjoy doing - visiting local wineries & distilleries. But now you want to put them out of business. You need to remember who you represent. And it's not the lobbiests!

This would not only affect wineries, breweries and distilleries but 2nd and 3rd order effects on tourism would affect restaurants, B&B's , hotels and retail establishments in the surrounding areas.

This would be a great detriment to many small businesses! Is that really what you are trying to do? If so SHAME on you!!!
