We have been given absolutely no information that supports this being a good idea. Our taxes are already astronomical ana as taxpayers we should be allowed a vote, this is insanity! Additionally, this would lose our small town feel and as someone who lives in the sound affected area I am 100% against it. We moved here for the quiet small town feel and are fully prepared to move if this becomes a done deal which will devastate us all.

I agree that there is no research or evidence that indicates this will be anything other than a tax sink. I don't think this can be a self sustained business in this area.

This is poorly put together. This will cost the city a ton of money and taxes will go up. Anytime this much money is being donated and a project with no planning is getting rammed through it feels like someone is trying to skim off the top or something bad.

We have plenty of venues in our area. Let’s put the money we were going to take from Washington residents for the venue and put it towards fixing the pool. Give our kids the core memories they deserve

Other question: What was the determination of city attorney regarding potential or appearance of conflict of interests with current mayor and wife being involved with decisions and lobbying for of project? There is a similar question with regard to friendships of the mayor or other council members with a specific contractor who may be chosen for the project. The question regarding the mayor would be moot after the election which is another reason to defer decisions until after the election.

I’m definitely in support of the 90 day hold. I’m actually in support of the project being rejected as a whole. Citizens are over taxed as it is and our roads aren’t maintained enough as it is due to lack of funding. Why add the theatre. This just screams “bad decision”!

We are a small town between two large culture hubs - Chicago and St Louis. More locally, we are a small town between two mid-size cities (Peoria and Bloomington) who already have a lot of challenges attracting performers to the area. The amphitheater (the way it is being currently conceived) is a fantasy that is not supported by the actual facts of our geography and population. Either drop the project entirely or talk to Mr Moneybags about building a community campus with a small performance stage that can be used by the many musical organizations and local musicians to give free, much quieter concerts to the local community.
People live in a place like Washington because they prioritize having a safe, not chaotic place to raise a family. They have invested in their home and their community and it is NOT ok to suddenly force them to listen to loud concerts while they are trying to get kids to sleep.

The city is not the appropriate place for this venue. We do not have the public draw to sustain it through a very short “season” and therefore it will significantly affect the taxpayers. We already have a similar venue, which is open year round, and it is consistently losing money. So much so that the city forgave the outstanding balance due. Using taxpayer dollars to provide infrastructure for this is irresponsible when there are infrastructure issues throughout the city for which that money should be used.
