I like to take my children to skate parks. I rollerblade while they skateboard. This sport should have as much support as any.

Seriously, anyone worried about young people and antisocial behaviour should be in favour of this! Skate parks are well known as a fantastic way to encourage kids to take up the hobby of skating, while providing the facilities for them to develop their skills safely and without worrying about damaging property or being told off for skating in inappropriate places.

As an adult working for CCC I've been to all skate parks in the greater ChCh area and seen for myself the social behavior and dynamics of the kids that use them. I can honestly say that these park users are passionate about that they do and they're friendly, cooperative and have no genuine interest in anti- social behavior.

A skate park in the Halswell Domain will add to an already facility. It will make the Domain more fun a wider range of ages.
Halswell is a family dominated suburb and it will mean the kids will have a safe place to play on their wheels. Driveways get boring!
